Cooking Oil Benefits

Benefits

CocoSina coconut cooking oil is a non-hydrogenated oil that has been refined using a chemical free process. Hydrogenation is a chemical process that tends to produce trans fats which have been identified as contributing to cholesterol build up in the bloodstream and increasing the risk of coronary heart disease. Our coconut oil has not been processed in this way so it naturally has no cholesterol, no additives or contaminants – making it a healthy alternative to other oils and fats. It is 100% pure and natural.

The production of coconut oil involves no harmful impacts on the natural environment such as deforestation threats. In fact, to the contrary, CocoSina’s production and sale of coconut oil boosts the local Samoan industry and helps support local farmers. We ensure that best practices are upheld in the processing of coconut into copra – the dried meat, or kernel, of the coconut used to extract coconut oil – in order to make the best coconut oil available.

Taste

With a neutral flavour and odour, CocoSina Coconut Cooking Oil brings out the best in food, naturally allowing the other tastes of your cooking to emerge. When frying, sautéing or roasting with it, coconut oil brings a crispness to your food without making it oily. Adding our coconut oil to smoothies makes them creamy and lush without giving a strong coconut taste.

How to use

Produced from the flesh of the mature coconut, coconut oil is a versatile cooking oil that you can use just as you would use other cooking oils. It has a high smoke point of close to 200°C, making it ideal for frying, baking or as an ingredient in food preparation. It is a stable oil with a long shelf life and there is no need for refrigeration. When stored below 24°C it begins to solidify, so you simply need to scoop it out with a spoon or heat the jar in hot water and pour.
